The Laughing Fae

I had been a freelancer for several years, working for the collectables industry, but I hadn't tried to make anything of my own and sell it, not since college anyway.

This was my second piece I made specifically to see if there was a market for my style, but this really wasn't my style, it's what I thought people wanted. The fact that this diminutive faery looks like a biter, that's the real me creeping in.

I was thinking I'd name the series "Blackwood Faeries" because at the time I was reading Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice, and I was imagining if there were faeries on that farm, they would be beautiful and dangerous, probably maniacal.

After I had made and sold the laughing fae, I googled Blackwood Faeries to see if I should get the website. It was already taken. Oops!

The #2 in a series of only 2, is created from Prosculpt polymer clay, her wings were feathers I painted, the had a tiny tulle wrap covering her (not really) and was adorned in dried flowers.

If I had to guess, she probably was 3 inches tall, created and sold in 2003
