The Inner Workings of the Spoondoll

In 2000 I began sculpting spoondolls, a concept developed from the folk art form of decorating a spoon to make a childrens toy by painting and dressing a common kitchen utensil. I began sculpting the faces on the spoon bowl, then adding limbs. Above is the work in progress of me learning how I wanted to attach the armature to the spoon handle.

I used candlestick bases (most screw together/apart these days)  as a stand for the final product. Below is the ad that was for the final product, which was sold in 2003.
